Provincial Disaster Assistance Program

The Town of Creighton has been approved for the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program for the flooding incidents that occurred on July 20th, and August 16th, 2011. If you suffered a loss on either of those dates you may be eligible for assistance under the PDAP. Applications may be picked up at the Town Office and inquiries should be directed to PDAP at 1-866-632-4033.

According to new Bylaw NO 6-2011

Residents can now have a outdoor Propane Fireplace/Pit as stated below:

'No permit shall be required to light, ignite start or allow to be ignited a fire in a C.S.A. approved propane unit used to cook food(barbecue) or a propane manufactured non-combustible enclosed container(CSA approved enclosed propane fire pit/unit) designed to hold a small fire for decorative purposes and the size of which is not larger that 1 meter in any direction and is equipped with an emergency shut off valve.'

This Bylaw was passed June 22nd, 2011

EARTH HOUR 2011

Earth Hour started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia when 2.2 million individuals and more than 2,000 businesses turned their lights off for one hour to take a stand against climate change.

Only a year later on March 29, 2008 and Earth Hour had become a global sustainability movement with more than 50 million people across 35 countries participating.

On March 28, 2009, hundreds of millions of people took part in the third Earth Hour. Over 4000 cities in 88 countries officially switched off to pledge their support for the planet, making Earth Hour 2009 the world's largest global climate change initiative.

Earth Hour 2010 became the biggest Earth Hour ever reaching 1.3 billion people. On March 27, 2010, a record 128 countries and territories united across the globe making it the largest voluntary action ever witnessed.

Earth Hour 2011 will take place on Saturday, March 26 at 8:30PM (local time). Let's make this the best year yet!

The Compassionate Friends

The Norman Region is working toward forming a chapter of The Compassionate Friends, a support group for parents who have lost a child, whether through accident, illness or suicide.

The primary purpose is to aid in the positive reconciliation of grief and foster the physical and emotional health of bereaved parents and their surviving children.

Informational meetings will be held at the Primary Care Center, Flin Flon March 4th, 2011 at 1:00pm-3:00pm and again in the evening from 7:00pm-9:00pm.
